Firmware Install Instructions for Receivers

Please take the following steps to change firmware in your receiver:

  1. In order to correctly locate the proper firmware for your receiver:
  2. a. Open the software program FLoader, if you do not have this program you can download it: here.
    b. Select the connection type and check the connection settings located under the “Connections” tab.
    c. Navigate to the “Device” tab and select “Receiver” as the device type.
    d. Select “Get from Device” and note the information given for Hardware and Model. This information will be used to locate the firmware you will need.
    e. Match the Hardware information with that of the “Board Version” listed in the table below.
    f. Then move across the row containing the correct board version to locate the correct model and receiver name.
(Note: the Receiver Model and Board Version can also be taken from PC-CDU Help | About Window)

  3. Download the corresponding ZIP archive with the firmware.
(Note: corresponding support drivers and firmware can also be found for the receiver in the related row.)
  4. Unzip the firmware files into a directory; it will create a subdirectory with all the firmware images.
  5. Review the release notes for the firmware version you have downloaded prior to installation.
  6. Refer to section 5.3 of the Floader user’s manual here for instructions on firmware loading.

  7. WARNING:
Please read the following before downloading firmware to your receiver

    • You must know what type of GPS board is used in your receiver before downloading this firmware.
    • You can identify the board type by using PcCdu or Floader.
    • If you have a 112t or 160t board you will have to order a new options file for your receiver(s).
    • Failure to properly follow this procedure may result in an inoperative receiver.
    • Please see the directions on the download page.

Alternate Firmware Update Method: Instead of the Windows GUI firmware loader, FLoader, you may use the console application loader.exe. Directions and download instructions are available on the Firmware Archive page along with previsouly released firmware.

Note for HiPer Lite and Hiper+ owners: Should you need to update the power board firmware, you may also need firmware for the internal modem (FH915) or Bluetooth® Drivers. Both of these additional packages are loaded with FLoader, and configured with separate configuration utilities available in the Utilities section. Manuals for configuration also available from the Software Manuals section.
